The Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of the Carolinas announces the 2012 leadership team for the ABC Upstate (SC) Council.
Brian Gallagher, Director of Marketing for Greenville-based O’Neal, Inc., has been named Council Chairman. He will work closely with the 2012 local leadership team, which includes Chris Moore (Carolina Power) as Vice Chair, and Mark Wise (Emory Electric) as Secretary. Committee Chairs and other Council members include John G. Creech (Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart), government affairs; Kacie Petrisko (ECS), membership; Joan Krause (KBR Building Group), public relations; Jeff Smith (BB&T Insurance Services), safety; Jesse Goens (Waldrop Mechanical Services), education/schools; and Angie Massey (Waldrop Mechanical Services), Excellence in Construction Awards Program. Additional leadership team members include Darath Mackie (Cely Construction), Shane Bolding (O’Neal), Bob Jacques (Hajoca), Ron Kountz (Clarkson Industrial Contractors), and David DeVita (Carolina Safety Consultants). Bill Caldwell (Waldrop Mechanical Services), immediate past Chairman of the Board for ABC of the Carolinas (of which the Upstate SC Council is a part), serves as board liaison.
“ABC has built a solid foundation here in the Upstate of South Carolina,” said Gallagher. “As the economy continues to present challenges, we are focused on providing resources, training, tools, information and events that will help make our members more effective and successful in 2012 and beyond.”
Gallagher added, “ABC’s mission is the advancement of the merit shop construction philosophy, which encourages open competition and a free-enterprise approach. Here in the Upstate, we place a strong emphasis on workforce development and training through alliances and partnerships with local high schools, technical schools and universities.”
ABC’s Upstate Council is comprised of 188 local and regional member companies in Greater Greenville/Spartanburg/Anderson for which construction is their primary business or a major market of focus. More than 750 individuals from these Upstate companies participate in the organization’s year-round activities, which include regularly scheduled lunch-and-learn programs, social functions, specialized education and training, involvement in government affairs on both a local and national level, and community service.
