The manufacturing industry in the United States has enjoyed a positive upswing in productivity and output for the last few years. According to a new study from the University of Michigan Institute for Manufacturing Leadership, as many as one million new manufacturing jobs could be created in the U.S. by 2025 due to the abundance of natural gas now available because of advances in fracking technology.
O’Neal, an integrated design and construction firm, has been working with a number of chemical, automotive, steel and pulp and paper companies that are making capital investments in manufacturing production capacity.
The study “Shale Gas: A Game Changer for U.S. Manufacturing,” stated that decreases in the cost of natural gas will boost “energy-intensive manufacturing sectors” that are responsible for the production of aluminum, steel, paper, glass and food.
